Poet's
Test |
| |
Sean
July 8th 1996 |
| |
Gather up your scribbles chose just one |
| |
Glean out pristine verbage till harvest done |
| |
Chip away any pretense and posture so |
| |
Let
the meter from inner heart flow |
| |
|
| |
Shed the flurry frills and foppish phrase |
| |
Focus on reason banished and spirit craze. |
| |
Question why we brag in furry absolutes |
| |
Plant your best plots in earthly roots |
| |
|
| |
As years race past new youth springs |
| |
Who really should care what name brings |
| |
Poet dress and redress hardest social ills |
| |
No
one magic potent lives or kills |
| |
|
| |
Each in their cell prison hard molded
|
| |
Yet sail free prayers our course embolded
|
| |
One step from madness just slightly tame
|
| |
Forego the false applause forget about fame
|
| |
|
| |
Tempted by the tributes rise in class
|
| |
Real
truth is branded what an ass |
| |
Liars will always steal quote words sweet
|
| |
Consider life a test you never beat
|
| |
|
| |
Light fires and toss best verse in
|
| |
Full moon should pass in humor grin
|
| |
Rewrite that same point shriveled to ash |
| |
What was uncovered in fervent clash?
|
| |
Think
then twice before you cast the lash |
| |
Who
did you harm in that frenzied dash? |
| |
|
