Steps to put images in pages |
| |
1. Build your template first with a table with 2 row and 2
columns. Be sure your template file (.DWT) is in its own subfolder
. Its best to name it "template" so you
know the purpose of the file. Close the template file. (Ctlr+W) |

2. On the 1st row 1st column but two number so that you can
be sure that you can be sure that you can adjust the space. after you put
the image in the 2nd row 2nd column. Why because this a spacer that
will let you test printing by the end user. |

3. Go to file new - you will see two tabs general and template.
Your template file will show you a preview. Name the new file
and save it. |

4. In the new file type in the first row 2nd column Back to
home page. Select the text . Go to the menu site choose site files
(F8). On the properties pane click on the icon point to file and drag
it to the file you want the link to. Usually index.htm. |

5. Some users have a hard time reading the hyperlink you created.
You can change its color. Select the text with a hyperlinked file
and go to the Text menu. Select HTML
style then Clear Selection Style . Then
go back to the Text menu and select color
and change the color . You can also change
the size by returning to the Text menu and select the size
option. |

6. Go to the 2nd row 2nd column and put the label of the picture
you want to use. |

7. Click tab to add a new row. |
| |
8. Select the entire table by click on the first row and drag
your mouse through all rows and columns. On the Properties pane
next to the Cell label change the default of Horiz and
Vert to Left for Horizontal and Top
for the Vertical. |

9. Go to the Modify menu and go to the Option Page Properties
and select an appropriate name you want for the file - normally it is the
same as the file you saved but it does not have to be. |

10. Save your file again. Minimize dreamweaver.

11. Launch Fireworks. Your images should all be
in a subfolder called images. |
| |
12. When you put your mouse over the file you want to open
- the balloon will tell you the proportions of the file. If it is
over 600 pixels (the horizontal setting is first) then you can reduce it
to 600 without any loss of resolution. |

13. Select the file you want to open and eventually add to
dreamweaver. |
| |
14. Select the Modify menu and choose canvas image
size. Note the when you change the value of the horizontal to 600
the vertical is automatically resized as well. |

15. Do not save the file. Choose the File menu option
Export and you can give it the same name or a new name (in case you want
to save the original) . |

16. Close down the child and do not save the .PNG file.
Leave Fireworks application open if you want to edit more images. |

17. Return to Dreamweaver. Put the focus of your mouse
on the 3rd row 2nd column. |

18. Go to the Insert Menu and choose the option Insert Image
(Ctrl+Alt+I) |

19. Save your results. |
| |
20. If you want more labels and images. Hit the tab
key twice. |
| |
21. Take off the number you used as a spacer by selecting
the space bar. |
| |
22. Hit F12 to preview your results and test printing
feature to see what the end user will do if they want to save this page.

23. Save your results one last time and Ctrl+W |
| |
24. Transmit your files to your site. Be sure your virus
protection is temporarily turned off for the short period of time you transmit.
Then turn virus protection back on. |
