Best Friend - No need to draw the line

by Sean
Friends have their own interests they want to share - listen for common ground.
Anything can be told judgments none Tested in battle I've got your back
Tell no secrets outside not even one. Tested in love give you what you lack.
Not afraid to differ yet civility hold  Tested in age some wither away
Shore  the other up - in winter cold. Resumed in tragedy holding sway.
Honest with strengths and flaws Check up often  on life's behive
Back and forth humor pull the claws. Nutured by will to keep it alive.
Friends can look you straight in the eye and tell you the truth.
Willing to travel  paths merky and mad No need to hold back deepest awe
Applaud your joys and jokes so sad. No need to compete to seek a flaw.
Nothing too trivial,  nothing too bland No need to compare yours mine
Share your next move show your hand. Each gain from others insight fine.
How can you be sure do you need to test? You can relax beyond broken heart
Ask and find the answer to litmus best.  Takes extra baggage off  your cart.
Friends are not jealous of  loves in your life.
Everyone has needs  questions asked - none Real friends come when their wanted
Beyond  shrinks, confessors no payment done. Range of bonding mutually sauntered.
At least one bond  both fixed  star Expect options in course correction
Gathering  barrings travelling far. If you need to mull over new direction.
The wildest dream no harm no shock If you need a shoulder to lean on
Warnings told before an action lock.  If you need a mirror held anon.
Friendship is not fickle unless that's what you want.
Each age has examples  of  loyalty No dumb down  - unless its heeded
From slaves, masters and royalty.   No false flattery  - unless its needed
It makes  mundane pain bearable No fancy words - unless its creeded
Death and birth become shareable.  If you love yourself then others can too.
A toast is offered at major turns If you dare to share then others will do.
Each knows what the other yearns. If you venture on a path others seek a clue.
