 Ending War

Sean May 1st, 2003
War is an deadly addiction stronger than most
Wrapped up with meaning packaged so sweet.
Legal murder redefined as "wasting", "toast"
  Bullies claim they're victims - a war-drum beat.

If you object you're branded a traitor
Your job is gone if you go against the tide.
  Comedians can slander libelous berator
Your minor faults blown up while truth takes a ride.

Pay off the clergy to bless each battle
Let them find the verses - hawkish tones.
God's on our side - inhaled high prattle
When they go too far dig up dirty bones.

The truth trickles out in drabs and dribs
Real motives are told decades later.
But it's fuel to shoot-up again - new fibs
Got to polish up for political debators.

Media in bed with the military brass
Spoon fed releases ready for prime times.
Line up heroes puffed up metals mass
  Excuse "our" side's zeal-driven crimes.

Only personal compassion - one on one
Will end the hate that is fueled by wealth.
When the "other" is the same under the sun
Fight the addiction to win back our health.

  Superpower strike -kick anybody's butt
Fight suicide killers send youth armed to gills.
Pick the worst tyrant past friend slut
Exaggerate his crimes to cover your kills.

Eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind
Two milleniums later the cause forgotten.
Tooth for tooth strewn for a trophy find.
Back to back endless enemies to offend.

Ask those that opposed that latest hiped war
To clean up the mess and tell their tale.
Let them stay transcribe the horror and gore
Give sermons in churches on the money trail.

Ask those that supported the techno pillage
To house a child - parents were collatoral
Have them pick up trash in any village
Then testify on the eve of another battle.
